An Estonian friend of mine moved to Indonesia for a year. And now I stay at her stone castle, where a small bedroom window opens to the kitchen area. An extreme makeover, she has shaved her head in the heat and lost several kilos in her dance classes. Almost prison-like look, I find it. Yet somehow beautiful.

Beautiful photo. I cannot but wonder if she know you were taking the picture. She doesn’t seem to be aware, and that’s part of the beauty of the image, I think.

No one should be told this is not a prison. It seems to have lost some of its power when I read your commentary. I wonder what it would look like in black and white. No matter. A very powerful photo, my comments not withstanding.
